Computing

Curriculum Intent

At St Peter’s Anglican Methodist Primary School we aim to make computing purposeful, engaging and challenging in order to prepare our children for their future in an ever-developing technical world.

We enable our children to develop their technological skills through the use of a variety of software and a wide range of digital resources.

Computing is timetabled for every class to develop the skills of:

  • programming
  • coding
  • e-safety
  • research
  • communication
  • data collection and handling

A set of progressive key skills are incorporated within the planning to ensure children develop digital competency.

A structured online safety curriculum is taught termly throughout the school to support the children to use online technologies responsibly and safely. Parents are supported and encouraged by the school to monitor and guide their children with their online use.

There are many opportunities to transfer the skills taught during computing sessions and extend their knowledge and understanding across the curriculum.
