Term 3 and 4

Reception

Reception will continue looking at a variety of different stories and traditional tales as part of their Drawing Club alongside daily phonics lessons to support literacy. Children will continue consolidating numbers 0-5 in maths before moving on to numbers up to 10. Children will focus on the artist Piet Mondrian for their art lessons this term. They will also look at 'people who help us' in the community alongside learning about different celebrations such as Chinese New Year.

Year 1

Our overarching topic for the next 2 terms is called 'I am an adventurer'. In history lessons, we will be looking at different significant explorers, including Captain Robert Scott and Christopher Columbus. In geography lessons we will be looking at world mapping. This will include learning about the different continents and oceans. In science lessons we will be looking at animals. We will look at classifying animals as well as looking at the needs of different animals and their life cycles.

We will look at several different texts in our English lessons related to this topic. These will include 'The Boy who Sailed the World' 'Shackleton's Journey' and 'The Search for the Giant Arctic Jellyfish'
