Choosing St Peter’s
We understand that selecting your child’s school is an incredibly important decision, one that must take into account their individual needs and specific character. We believe that St Peter’s Anglican Methodist Primary School has so much to offer both you and your child. As a village school, in picturesque surroundings, we pride ourselves on being an integral part of our local community and value the ‘family’ atmosphere that we’ve created, something that we feel is quite unique to our school.
Applying for our school
If you’re considering sending your child to St Peter’s, we are always happy to give you a tour around our school. The best way for this to be arranged is to contact us directly either via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (01454 631137) to arrange a tour or to ask any questions that you might have.
The South Gloucestershire Council Admissions Service handles all of the applications and they are a useful source of information for parents. More information can be found here: https://www.southglos.gov.uk/education-and-learning/schools-and-education/school-admissions/
Reception 2021 applications
Children born between 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017 will be eligible for a place at our school in September 2021. The deadline for applications is 15th January 2021; applications should be made to the local authority in which you live.
Reception 2021 tours for parents
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have of course had to adapt our approach to parent tours this year. As with so many aspects of school life, this has provided us with the opportunity to have a fresh look at how we organise our tours and how, despite the restrictions currently in place, we can still enable parents to gather information and ‘get a feel’ for our school, which is so important in making the right choice for your children.
With this in mind, this year there will be not one, but two aspects to our tours:
Part 1: Welcome to St Peter’s (virtual)
Join us for one of the three online events. Held on Zoom, we expect that these will last for around 30 minutes and you’ll have the chance to meet and hear from Rhys Buckley (Head Teacher), Darren Hunt (Deputy Head) and Laura Cox (EYFS Class Teacher). This meeting will give you an introduction to our school, an opportunity to hear about our vision and values and also talk to you about general school life at St Peter’s.
These will take place online (Zoom) on:
- Please contact the school
To book a place at one of the “Welcome to St Peter’s” events, please contact the school office via email or phone. Once your place is confirmed, we will then be in touch with the Zoom details for the meeting.
Part 2: Tour of the EYFS learning environment
We think that visiting the school is vital before making your final decision and so, whilst we won’t be able to show you our entire site, we’d love to give you the opportunity to view our Reception environment where your child will begin their time at St Peter’s. In line with our both local and national guidance, and to keep everyone as safe as possible, tours will:
- Be no more than 30 minutes in length
- Be limited to one family at any one time, so that we can socially distance
- Be adults only (to minimise numbers and for health & safety purposes, unfortunately no children will be able to attend)
- Require adults to wear a face covering throughout
- Follow a one-way system
These tours will take place at staggered times on:
- Please contact the school
If you are unable to attend the tours on one of these days, we would still be delighted to show you around at another date. Please contact our office and we will be happy to arrange a date & time that is mutually convenient.
As with the online meetings, please contact the school office via email or phone to book a tour of the EYFS learning environment.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to St Peter’s, both online and in person!
