Time 4 Reading 2017-12-17T17:12:20+00:00

We have started a new exciting reading initiative to encourage everyone to become successful readers who enjoy a range of books. To succeed we need to hit a range of criteria.

Our first of these criteria’s is to encourage every child to read 5 times a week for at least 10 minutes, at home. To aid this, we have produced a monitoring booklet which can be signed by any adult. Reading includes listening to a story, sharing a story with siblings, reading out loud or independently.

Another, is to read most of the books off the top 100 book list for 5-7, 8-11 and adults (yes, the staff will be joining in too!). We have included a list for your child’s age range from which you can help mark off books that have been read. This information will be collated in super-sized lists in the library. Please feel free to visit after school to see how we are getting on.

Finally, when we have achieved bronze status we will have a whole school treat before beginning working towards silver….

January 2016 Update

Well done St Peters! We have achieved a Bronze Award through everyone’s hard work. The book lists in the library and outside the staff room are looking very full indeed. New reading monitoring cards were sent home last week and the only change on these is that we are being asked to read 15 minutes a day rather than 10; easy for a super-reading school like ours!

In recognition of everyone’s hard work we are having a whole-school treat on Friday 12th January. Explorer-Zone will set up a large tent in the hall and each class will have an exciting lesson about space within it.

Keep up the good work!
