Festival of Youth Sports

On Saturday 6 June 14 children from years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 represented St Peter’s at the South Gloucestershire Festival of Youth Sport. This is a very important annual event in the school sports calendar. The school was chosen to represent the countries of Greece and Ireland at the athletes’ parade, which signifies the start of the festival.

Years 1 and 2 then went off to the multi-skills event which saw them compete in different skills based games such as collection of balls, hitting the target and many more. They had a great time participating in the different aspects. Year 3 and 4 were in the Boccia and New Aged Kurling event where they needed accuracy of aim as well as judging how much force to send the boccia ball and the kurling stone to win. The four girls did brilliantly and worked so well as a team. Year 5 and 6 took on the Laser Run challenge – running and shooting a laser gun at a very small target. This proved very tricky but at least everyone of our four children hit the target at least once. They all had a great morning and went home with a commemorative t-shirt. Well done for your support of each other and great team work.
