PE Days

Wednesday with Bristol Sports and Friday.

An appropriate PE kit must be worn. Children can come to school dressed in their PE kits these days.

Homework

Homework in year 6 will be posted on to Google Classroom every Friday to be completed by the following Thursday. It will consist of an English activity one week and a Maths activity the next. The children can either complete the activities on Google Classroom or hand in a hard copy. A record of homework will be kept as it is important that the children form a good routine ready for secondary school. Spelling patterns will also be given out weekly and available on the spelling tab on our class page.

Incomplete homework (including guided reading) will be completed during break time.

Reading

It is important that the children maintain their reading practice at home for a minimum of 10 mins daily. They will also be heard during school time. Here are some questions you can ask your child after they have read, to help them engage in their understanding of the text.

2-Week Wellbeing Topic

As always, we begin the school year with a whole-school shared book. This year, we have chosen

'How to be a Lion' by ed vere (he doesn't use capitals for his name........tut).

It has been chosen for it's beautiful pictures and strong messages about being who you want to be, not conforming to stereotypes and asking yourself, 'what kind of person am I?'

We will look at interesting animals and have a scales and tails encounter on Monday 8th September!

For the first two weeks of school, we will focus on becoming a great class team, sharing this book, creating art and D.T work and talking through the zones of regulation (more information to follow).

The term 1 and 2 timetable will commence from 15th September. However, there may be small tweaks along the way.
