Nursery education grant

All 3 to 4 year olds in England can get 570 free hours per year. It’s usually taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year. Some 3 to 4 year olds are eligible for 30 hours of free childcare a week Check if you are eligible and find out how to apply (you can get the funded hours the term after your child’s 3rd birthday, starting on 1 January, 1 April or 1 September)

Please note codes must be renewed regularly. Please carefully read advice given by the government on how to ensure your code remains valid. If your code lapses then you will have to personally pay the fees.

On signing your child up to St Peter’s Nursery, parents will be accepting a 4 week notice period to terminate that contract. This 4 week notice period applies to both fee paying children and funded children. If a parent removes a child from the nursery without notice they will not be able to claim the nursery education grant from another setting until that 4 weeks notice period has elapsed. This is in line with South Gloucestershire Councils policies.

Communication

Information will be sent out via Arbor (the school’s Management Information system). We encourage parents to download the Arbor app where you will receive in-app messages (log in details will be sent to you upon registration.) Meals should be selected via the app, this can be done in advance for the whole term and the current menu is available to view on the school website.

At St Peter’s we use an online learning journey platform called ‘Tapestry’ for children in EYFS. Tapestry is a website which can be accessed on a computer, laptop or on any Apple or Android device such as a tablet or smartphone.  Tapestry is a secure platform and it is an excellent way of keeping track of your child’s development during their time with us during the EYFS years.

Tapestry enables us to instantly upload photos, videos and observations of your children onto a secure server. You will receive email alerts that a new observation has been added to your child’s Learning Journal and can log on and view what your child has been learning in school.  An advantage of this system is that you can instantly add your own comments to entries and can share your child’s online learning diary with members of your family. Tapestry will enable on-going communication and keep you informed of the areas of learning in which your child is achieving and also the age band they are working within. We will provide you with the opportunity to log in to your child’s journal with your own secure username and password so that you can explore the system at home.

Image consent

Parents are required to complete an image consent form upon registration.

Nappies

Nappies, wipes & nappy sacks are to be provided by the parent/guardian. These will be disposed of on the premises.

The cost of a school meal is currently £2.75 per day. Our catering provider provide a nutritionally balanced 2 course meal each day and the menu rotates on a 3-week cycle. A menu is available on the school website.

First aid

If a child has a minor accident at school the parent will be informed by an accident/incident report being emailed to them at the end of the day. Any child who bumps their head should be kept a careful eye on by their parent/carer for the next 48 hours. A record of children’s injuries is kept on the Arbor system.

Absence

If a child is absent because of illness, please telephone first thing in the morning (by 9.00am) and leave a message or alternatively send us an email to office@stpetersprimary.co.uk

If your child has sickness or diarrhoea we ask that they are not sent back to nursery until 48 hours after their last episode to prevent the spread of infection.

Clothing

Please send your child into nursery in appropriate clothing, we make use of the outside area all year round. You are able to purchase a school sweatshirt from our uniform provider Price & Buckland, if you wish. This is not compulsory.

Please provide a named pair of wellies. We have waterproofs available for each child. Please ensure your child has adequate spare clothes in their bag in the event of an accident. Coats are required in the winter and a sun hat in the summer.

Suncream

Suncream should be applied before each nursery session during the summer period. If your child is booked in for a full day then please fill out a suncream permission form to enable us to re-apply suncream if necessary. Please send your child in with a named suncream bottle each day.
